Vireo Spend security

How Spend protects a ledger, a voice note, and an export.

This page explains what is specific to Vireo Spend. The Vireo-wide security also applies and covers the shared Vireo layer.

The shared Vireo layer

This product uses Vireo’s shared identity and security controls where an account is required. Product boundaries and database permissions limit records to the person, business, operator, or authorised support role that needs them.

The app never does the arithmetic

Amounts are held as whole minor units — cents, not fractions — and every figure you read is computed in the database and rechecked by a constraint there. Neither the app on your phone nor any language model computes a number Spend shows you.

Sealed, or not stored

Voice transcripts and export files are encrypted before they are written down. If the key for either is missing, Spend stores nothing rather than storing it readable — a voice note keeps no transcript, and an export fails honestly instead of leaving a ledger in the clear.

What you should protect

Spend signs you in through a code sent to your email address, so the security of that mailbox is the security of your ledger. Tell us if you lose access to it.

An export is a plain, readable file once you have saved it — that is the point of it. Keep it somewhere you would keep a bank statement, and delete it when you no longer need it.
